the idea
Variability means liberty. Playing on authentic instruments the varied international chamber music ensemble 'La Chambre du Roi' around violinist Esther Visser (baroque violin, classical violin) uses this liberty to perform the repertoire of different eras - from baroque to early romantic music. The musicians who are invited to be part of the various instrumentations are, like the violinist herself, internationally performing specialists in historical performance practice. The invited artists are frequently part of ensembles such as La Petite Bande, Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century.
In the context of the International Young Artist’s Presentation the ensemble got elected as „Promising Ensemble 2011“ only shortly after the formation. Their musical work is coached by Sigiswald Kuijken.
A special aim of the ensemble is the discovery of unknown music and it's performance while working as close to the original score as possible and staying faithful to the performance practise belonging to the time and place where the piece was composed. This strong connection with the historical source opens the possibility to experience a colorful, original and lively performance – to be enjoyed by the ensemble as well as by the audience.
